Most people have heard of the Law of Attraction but many have different ideas about its meaning. So how do you define the Law Of Attraction? This is a question that baffles people for many reasons.

It’s not a legal law as such. It’s more of a belief and a thought process. If you believe in yourself when playing a game of golf, you should do well. If you believe you’ll do badly, you will. That’s a basic explanation but it does sum the up the law succinctly.

The law of attraction means we attract whatever we think about. This can be negative or positive. As with the golf game, if you attract positive thoughts and believe you can win, you will most likely win. Whereas, if you don’t believe you’ll play well and will lose, you’ll surely have a bad game.

The law of attraction teaches you to think only good, positive thoughts. Believe in yourself and love yourself. Believe life will be easy and you’ll find it will generally be a smoother ride. But you need to continue the positive affirmations daily so the law of attraction remains strong. However, if you’re desperately pleading for good fortune, it won’t happen because desperate energy doesn’t attract positive forces.

To use the law properly, you need to stop focusing on the negative stuff or the things you don’t want and focus completely on the things you do want. Instead of complaining about being poor all the time, visualize yourself as being rich. Create a firm picture in your mind that you can turn to as often as necessary. Changing your inner thought processes has a powerful effect on your energy, motivation and creativity. This enables you to achieve more success in every area of your life.

If you go through life with a negative attitude, that attitude can prevent you from attaining any measure of success in many areas of your life. Self-doubt, self-criticism and constantly putting yourself down. If you’re needy or wanting all the time and everything scares you and you think you’re going to die, then those negative thought processes will act as a blockage to your desires.

Thoughts by themselves are useless. A thought only gains power when it’s focused. So if you focus on a negative thought, it will affect your reality. You don’t need to focus on a positive thought continuously because once you create a thought, your consciousness will keep it going. However, your consciousness can’t continuously focus on a negative thought so for it to exist, you must keep thinking about it.

If you want to activate the law of attraction, you just need to form an “abundant physical reality” by thinking of all the wonderful things you desire and then let your consciousness create that physical reality. However, if you think negative or conflicting thoughts, you can slow down this process.

As an example, if you want to live in a big house and you let your mind think positively about it, that will get your law of attraction going. However, if you let negative thoughts such as taxes, recession, tight budgets and stress creep into your mind, your reality quickly becomes a negative one and the law of attraction won’t work for you.

Nobody actually knows where the law of attraction originated. Many people have only become aware of it recently because of the movie “The Secret.” However, the movie has a lot of contradictions when compared to the actual law so many believe most of the movie’s concepts are fake.

There appears to be some evidence of the law as far back as 6,000-7,000 years ago. Buddha’s statement – “all that we are is the result of what we have thought” – is an apt description of the law. A number of excerpts of the Bible also appear to discuss the law.

Wallace Wattles wrote the book “The Science Of Getting Rich” which was the result of his studies of different world philosophies and religious beliefs. He was also noted as saying – “There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, which, in its original state, permeates and fills the interspaces of the universe. A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought. I can form things in my thought, and by impressing my thoughts upon formless substance, can cause the thing I think about to be created.”

Napoleon Hill is regarded as influencing more successful people than anyone else in history. He interviewed over 500 millionaires to find a formula for success that any ordinary person could also use. His masterpiece book, Think And Grow Rich, took him 20 years to put together. It has sold over seven million copies since 1937. This book has continued to rank extremely high in various bestsellers lists, often rating in the top 10 in its field. It holds the record for the all-time bestseller in the field of modern motivation.

Now you can see that defining the law of attraction isn’t difficult. However, putting it into practice can be harder to accomplish, especially if you have a weak mind. Your thoughts are the key to everything. Let positivity trump negativity and you’re on the right path.
